CTVNews – A new exhibit in the Old Port takes a look at the extraordinary encounter between two influential artists: Dante Alighieri and Salvador Dali.<\/p>

Written more than 700 years ago by Italian writer Dante Alighieri<\/strong>, the Divine Comedy<\/strong> is a story of reflection, confinement, and quite literally, going to hell and back.<\/p>

Seven centuries later, in the 1950s, master surrealist Salvador Dali was commissioned to create 100 pieces of art commemorating Dante’s work, specifically the Divine Comedy.<\/p>

Those print were brought to Montreal and put up on display at the Grand Quay.<\/a><\/p>

The collective behind the installation, La Girafe en feu, says the story of the Divine Comedy bears a stark semblance of how the pandemic has impacted our lives.<\/p>

L\u2019exposition est inspir\u00e9e du r\u00e9cit de\u00a0La Divine Com\u00e9die<\/em>, le chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre de Dante \u00e9crit il y a plus de 700\u00a0ans. Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e jusqu\u2019en octobre dans un hangar habituellement utilis\u00e9 comme d\u00e9barcad\u00e8re par les bateaux de croisi\u00e8re,\u00a0Divina Dali<\/em>\u00a0propose une belle immersion dans l\u2019univers \u00e9clat\u00e9 de Dali \u00e0 travers des estampes, des aquarelles et des dessins r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par l\u2019artiste dans les ann\u00e9es\u00a01950 et 1960.<\/p>

July 16 to October 31, 2021 at the Port of Montreal\u2019s Grand Quay:\u00a0Dante\u2019s literary world seen through Dali\u2019s eyes.<\/p>

In 1960, surrealist icon Salvador Dali presented the literary world of Dante\u2019s\u00a0Divine Comedy<\/em>\u00a0from Hell to Purgatory to Paradise through 101 works of art. Presented in Montreal for its world premiere,\u00a0Divina Dali<\/em>\u00a0revisits this summit meeting between two legendary artists in a monumental immersive experience designed by La Girafe en feu.<\/p>
