In BLUE, audiences voyage through the remote parts of the backstage areas of the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, rediscovering what it means to be a \u201cspectator\u201d. In RED, audiences venture through the streets of the surrounding neighbourhood, finding themselves inside the St. Lawrence Market after-hours \u2013 a place of exchange where worlds meet through stories.<\/p><p>The project borrows the great sense of wonder of the poems that inspired it, with each audience member becoming a modern-day Ulysses and Dante: a voyager. The show is deeply enriched by the participation of its audience as it unfolds, generating a sense of community among the spectators as they transform from audience into player and become the centre of the narrative.<\/p><p>With a limited audience of eight with timed entrances, The Spectators\u2019 Odyssey o dell \u2018Inferno is perfectly conceived to not only meet the challenges of live performance during a pandemic but also offer a tantalizing and innovative way in which to experience theatre today.<\/p><p>The&nbsp;stellar international creative team of Italian and Canadian artists includes video direction by&nbsp;Canadian filmmaking legend Bruce MacDonald poet and writer Luke Reece, choreographer Esie&nbsp;Mensah, co-Director, Technical Director and Sound Designer Matteo Ciardi, Montreal based&nbsp;singer Fred P\u00e9loquin, journalist and writer Megan Williams, experimental musician Andrea&nbsp;Gozzi, Italian-Canadian performer Maddalena Vallecchi Williams and many more.<\/p><p>Created by Daniele Bartolini, artistic director of the internationally acclaimed, Italian-Canadian company DopoLavoro Teatrale (DLT),&nbsp;<em><strong>The Spectators&#8217; Odyssey &#8211; o dell\u2019 Inferno<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is a natural evolution of the internationally acclaimed &#8220;audience-specific&#8221; theatre work by DLT in Canada, England, India and most recently at La Biennale di Venezia Teatro in 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p><p><em><strong>Developed with the support of TO Live in association with the National Arts Centre\u2019s National Creation Fund, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto, the Embassy of Italy in Canada and Villa Charities.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delve into an interactive live theatrical adventure inspired by Dante\u2019s\u00a0Inferno\u00a0and Homer\u2019s\u00a0The Odyssey.
