An Egyptian court has ordered the release of researcher Patrick Zaki, whose detention in February last year sparked international condemnation, particularly in Italy<\/a> where he had been studying, his family said.<\/p>

\u201cI\u2019m jumping for joy!\u201d his mother, Hala Sobhi, told AFP. \u201cWe\u2019re now on our way to the police station in Mansoura,\u201d a city in Egypt\u2019s Nile Delta, where Zaki is from.<\/p>

Zaki still faces charges of \u201cspreading false news\u201d, \u201charming national security\u201d and \u201cincitement to overthrow the state\u201d, among others.<\/p>

His trial has been postponed to February, according to the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), a local NGO with which he worked.<\/p>
