Annunziata Murgia is oldest person ever to attend lessons at her evening class after second world war ruined her studies<\/strong><\/p>

TheGuardian – An Italian woman who missed out on formal education because of the second world war has returned to the classroom to study for her school diploma \u2013 at the age of 90.<\/p>

\u2018When the war broke out, everything changed for me. I had to go and work, as my family struggled and I had to play my part. Once upon a time, only those who had money could study.\u2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>

Annunziata Murgia is the oldest person ever in her evening class to attend lessons for the licenza media<\/em>, or middle school diploma, an exam typically taken by children in lower secondary education at the age of 14. She does so at the centre close to her home in Dolianova, Sardinia.<\/p>

\u201cI like studying, I\u2019ve always liked it,\u201d she told Il Messaggero. \u201cBut when the war broke out, everything changed for me. I had to go and work, as my family struggled and I had to play my part. Once upon a time, only those who had money could study.\u201d<\/p>

UnioneSarda – Seduta al primo banco, Annunziata Murgia \u2013 novant\u2019anni compiuti lo scorso 22 dicembre \u2013 \u00e8 pronta per una nuova lezione. Mancano poche settimane all\u2019esame di licenza media, un sogno coltivato a lungo e ora finalmente raggiungibile grazie ai corsi serali seguiti al Centro provinciale per l\u2019istruzione degli adulti di Dolianova. Dopo una vita intensa fatta di lavoro, famiglia e sacrifici, Annunziata oggi passa il tempo tra libri e quaderni. Il traguardo \u00e8 vicino grazie a forza di volont\u00e0 e tenacia. E a una grande curiosit\u00e0 che non \u00e8 mai venuta venute meno col passare del tempo. <\/p>

\u00abLa scuola mi aiuta ad andare avanti nonostante qualche problema di salute \u2013 dice sorridente \u2013 da poco ho subito la frattura del femore, un trauma che mi ha creato molti problemi. Non posso pi\u00f9 andare in bicicletta. E pensare che fino a due anni fa facevo sei chilometri al giorno. Ora faccio pi\u00f9 fatica a camminare ma di certo non sto ferma. Non ho voluto neanche le stampelle: mi aiuto col carrellino per la spesa e vado dappertutto. Venire a scuola mi distrae. Le insegnanti sono bravissime, persone speciali perch\u00e9 mi danno forza ed entusiasmo\u00bb.<\/p>
