A generous portion costs \u20ac6. After fresh fish? Try&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/restaurantguru.com\/Osteria-Mercede-Palermo\">Osteria Mercede<\/a>&nbsp;for its&nbsp;<em>tonno rosso&nbsp;<\/em>(red tuna, \u20ac18), and homely I sapori del Mare for its killer&nbsp;<em>pasta<\/em>&nbsp;<em>porticello&nbsp;<\/em>(pasta with king prawns, \u20ac16). Top carb choice (and vegetarian) is a\u00a0<em>panino con panelle e crocch\u00e8<\/em>\u00a0(a sesame roll with chickpea fritters, potato croquettes and mint).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trovaweb.net\/street-food-panelle-panini-con-milza-focacceria-testagrossa-palermo\">Fratelli Testagrossa<\/a>\u00a0in Piazza Indipendenza does big portions for \u20ac2.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"inspiration\">I<strong>nspiration<\/strong><\/h2><p>MEC museum and restaurant (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mecmuseum.it\/en\/home\/\">mecmuseum.it<\/a>, entry \u20ac7) is an inspiring meeting of innovation with style and ingenious food. Visionary architect Giuseppe Forello has put together one of Europe\u2019s largest collections of Apple computers and other artefacts (including a pair of Steve Jobs\u2019s shoes, pictured), and it\u2019s all now on display in 16th-century Palazzo Castrone. Sharing the building is experimental next-gen hotspot restaurant&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mecpalermo.it\/\">MEC<\/a>, serving avant-garde Sicilian fine dining, with intriguing flavours that will raise your \u201ctech\u201d experience to a different level.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"neighbourhood\"><strong>Neighbourhood<\/strong><\/h2><p>La Kalsa, the historic Arab quarter, is one of the oldest areas in the city. To experience its diverse urban vibe, head east from Piazza Sant\u2019Anna and let the cacophony of the city be replaced by the sound of your steps on ancient cobblestones and laughter from the quaint little bars. There are photo opportunities on every corner, and the street art on Via dello Spasimo is a vortex of colour and historic figures. In recent years, the neighbourhood has been transformed into a hub of bars, eateries and artisan boutiques.
