A small island off the Tuscan coast. It is there, in the 70’s, that two sisters were born, Caterina and Teresa.
In this island family the characters are strong, starting with Elena, their mother, nicknamed “La Rouge” for her bright hair, but above all for her political ideas. Vittorio, their father, leads his life as he sees fit, and their grandmother called Nonnalina. Catherine, her eldest, subjugates and dominates Teresa, who, to find her place, will have to learn to detach herself from her land as well as from her family. When she comes to adulthood, and the time for her decisions, will she be able to tame her childhood nostalgia for her future?
