Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. the presentation event of the 21st edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World will be held at the Farnesina. The event will be opened by Vice Minister Marina Sereni, and will be moderated by the journalist, Serena Bortone. It will be attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ettore Francesco Sequi, the Central Director for the Promotion of the Italian Language and Culture, Cecilia Piccioni, and members of other important government organizations that have contributed, in the different spheres of their activity, to revive and reinterpret the work of Dante in the contemporary world, updating the contents: from ENI to the Alda Fendi Foundation – Experiments; from the Women’s Soccer Division of the FIGC to Giunti Editore – Disney Division. The review, with the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Italian Republic, is an annual celebration of the Italian language and Italian creativity in the world.

The initiative, launched in 2001 in collaboration with the Accademia della Crusca, is held in the third week of October by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Institutes of Culture, with the support of the MiC, the MUR, the Swiss Confederation and the main partners of linguistic promotion.

The 21st edition, scheduled from October 18 to 24, will explore the theme “Dante, the Italian”. In this 700th year since the death of Italy’s greatest poet, the Week of the Italian Language in the World can be seen as the ideal conclusion to the program of celebration, “Dante, 700 years in the world”, sponsored by the network of foreign offices on five continents, and as the prelude to the States-General of Italian Language and Creativity, on November 29.

The event will be streamed live on the YouTube platform of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
