Call for Applications
The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy Montreal (OFFI), in collaboration with the Italian-Canadian Community Foundation (FCCI) announces its first annual OFF Prizes awarded to students in the Arts.
For its inaugural year, the OFFI will award three $1,500 CAD prizes: Guido Basso Prize for music, Umberto Bruni Prize for visual arts and Filippo Salvatore Prize for literary arts.
The submission deadline is August 15, 2023, Prizewinners will be chosen by a jury of three individuals. There will be a different jury for each prize. Prizewinners will be notified in early September, Prizes will be awarded on September 22, 2023.
General Eligibility Requirements for all Prizes
- You must be either born in Quebec or a resident of Quebec
- You must be of Italian descent (either one or both parents)
- You must be between the ages of 16 and 35
- You must be enrolled in a program at either the CEGEP, college or university level • Individuals can only apply for one prize
- Individuals related to an OFFI or FCCI board member or staff member are not eligible.
Eligibility Requirements for the Guido Basso Prize for Music
- Open to all performing instrumentalists and vocalists in any style of music.
- Submit proof of student statas.
- Submit a cover letter, The letter should explain your Italian ancestry.
- Submit a detailed CV.
- Submit a video of two musical performances or demos.
- Selections should be contrasting to demonstrate both technical and lyrical capacity
Eligibility Requirements for the Umberto Bruni Prize for Visual Arts
- Open to student in visual arts, media arts or film studies.
- Submit proof of student status.
- Submit a cover letter. The letter should explain your Italian ancestry.
- Submit a detailed CV.
- Submit a short essay (max 1000-word) describing your field of study, your career aspirations, and a project related to your field of study that you are either working on or recently completed.
- Submit a sample of a project you have completed or are currently working on which is related to your field of study.
Eligibility Requirements for the Filippo Salvatore Prize for Literary Arts
- Open to student in literature, creative writing, journalism or theatre.
- Submit proof of student status.
- Submit a cover letter, The letter should explain your Italian ancestry.
- Submit a detailed CV.
- Submit a short essay (max 1000 words) describing your field of study, your career aspirations, that you are either working on or recently completed.
- Submit a short sample of your written work (approx. 1000 to 1500 words). project related to your field of study.
