Toronto.com – North York’s Columbus Centre is welcoming a production in time for the holiday season.

The centre’s umbrella organization, Villa Charities, is presenting the premiere of “If on a Christmas Night…” with support from the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto Dec. 7 to 23.

The interactive theatrical experience was created by theatre company DopoLavoro Teatrale specifically for the Columbus Centre in Toronto. Preview performances are running Dec. 4 to 6 at 8 p.m.

The show is a series of adventurous, comical and moving scenarios amid the backdrop of a Christmas celebration, through the lens of Italian and Italian-Canadian culture, a news release said.

“Spectators are transported through a sequence of immersive interactions with actors in different locations and are invited to gather, meet each other and build a new community, in an intimate performance experience,” it added.

A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will support Villa Charities Foundation to provide funding for culturally sensitive senior care, as well as educational and cultural programs in music, dance and visual arts.

The premiere of “If on a Christmas Night…” is Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $40.
