Italian citizens living abroad who are registered in the Italian Registry Office (AIRE) are entitled to free admission to museums, archaeological areas and parks managed by the State, which normally charge an entrance fee.
The Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism has set up a fund for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, which allows Italian citizens living abroad who are registered with the Registry of Italians living abroad (AIRE) free access to various museums, archaeological areas and parks managed by the State, which normally charge an entrance fee.
To take advantage of this facility, all you have to do is show a document proving your registration with AIRE, such as
- Italian passport showing foreign residence;
- Italian identity card showing foreign residence;
In the absence of the above, it is possible to ask the Italian Commune of reference for a certificate of AIRE enrolment or to produce a self-certification in which one declares that one is enrolled in AIRE, indicating the commune of enrolment in accordance with D.P.R. 445/2000.
