With over 1,800 different cheeses across the world, being named the infamous “King of Cheese” is a big deal. But there is no surprise that Parmigiano Reggiano is #1.

TasteAtlas recently released their list of Best Rated Cheese in the World and proved once again that the beloved Italian delicacy was ranked top of the list.

Human labour, a thousand years of history, traditions, and a cherished and protected land come together to produce an inimitable cheese. The naturally lactose-free cheese is the ultimate versatile food. It can be grated into soups; shaved onto classic and modern pasta dishes or enjoyed in a simple pairing. Add to that, if you save the rinds, they act as flavour bombs to enhance your meals.

A recent survey showed that over 60 per cent of Canadians are choosing cheese as their go-to comfort food classics like bread, pasta, pizza and burgers. The Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano reported that Canada’s imports of the prized cheese are close to seven per cent up from the same period in 2022 – a continuous rise since the pandemic.
