by Katrina Warren for Honey Pets – Italian greyhounds (Iggys) look a lot like a miniature version of a greyhound and are sweet, comedic little dogs, often referred to as cat-like. It is believed they were originally bred for hunting game, and also used as a lap dog.

They are sensitive dogs and can be a little needy for attention. Here’s six things to know about Italian greyhounds.

1. They are often called “Velcro dogs”

Iggys don’t like being alone and they love to follow their owners around wherever they go. So you can say goodbye to your privacy and get used to having company when going to the bathroom.

2. They have an easy care coat

Italian greyhounds are a great option for people who don’t want to deal with a mountain of grooming responsibilities. They have a sleek, easy care coat that doesn’t have typical ‘Doggy odour’.

3. They are playful and athletic

They can go from chilling on the couch to pocket rocket in a matter of seconds. Care must be taken as they can injure themselves easily during rough play or jumping.
