Naturally, the family behind St-Viateur Bagel brough some of their bagels to the taping.

Montreal Gazette – Think of family rivalries. What comes to mind? The Montagues and Capulets, perhaps? Maybe the Hatfields and the McCoys? How about the owners of Montreal’s St-Viateur Bagel and … some people from Ontario?

Okay, fine, one of these things is not quite like the others, but it is the setup for Wednesday night’s episode of Family Feud Canada.

What these families lack in historic — or literary — enmity, they will hopefully make up for in their willingness to guess the answers to survey questions in the presence of comedian Gerry Dee.

Also, the Morena family, which has been involved in the bagel business since 1962, brought some of their wares to the taping. (Insofar as the show films in Toronto, this may be the first time in ages the city has been graced by a proper bagel.)

Without wishing to do the CBC’s job for free, surely this was a missed opportunity to have the Morenas face off against Fairmount Bagel’s Shlafman family. Now that would be a proper family feud.
