Tuscany’s most iconic wine event returned to Florence, bringing together tradition, innovation, and a renewed commitment to sustainability.

For wine lovers and industry professionals, February in Florence was once again a highlight as the Chianti Classico Collection 2025 took place on February 17-18 at the historic Stazione Leopolda. Over 218 producers of the Gallo Nero label showcased their latest vintages of Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, and Gran Selezione. This year’s Collection underscored a clear message—sustainability and authenticity are the future of fine Tuscan wine.
Sustainability at the Forefront
Sustainability was the key theme of the 2025 edition. From an event setup using reusable materials to an artistic installation celebrating the biodiversity of Chianti Classico’s hills, the commitment to eco-conscious winemaking was evident. Producers showcased organic farming techniques, reduced chemical inputs, and innovative practices such as natural composting and water conservation, solidifying Chianti Classico’s position as a leader in responsible viticulture.
A Record-Breaking Edition

The 2025 edition set a record with 790 wines available for tasting, including 194 Chianti Classico Riserva and 185 Gran Selezione labels. Attendees also had the opportunity to sample 40 preview wines from the 2024 vintage, gaining early insight into the year’s character. For the first time, visitors could purchase select wines directly from the event, taking home a piece of the experience.
Celebrating 150 Years of Chianti Classico Olive Oil
Beyond wine, the Collection also honoured another Tuscan staple: Chianti Classico DOP olive oil. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Chianti Classico Olive Oil Consortium and the 25th anniversary of the DOP designation. A dedicated tasting station featured 35 different olive oils, highlighting the region’s excellence beyond the vineyard.
A Recap of Recent Vintages
- 2024 Vintage: A balanced growing season with early bud break and moderate summer conditions led to wines of bright acidity, refined tannins, and moderate alcohol levels. Many producers noted a resemblance to the elegant 1990s vintages.
- 2023 Vintage: A cooler and wetter spring required careful vineyard management, but a warm and dry summer allowed for excellent ripening. The wines show freshness, good structure, and vibrant fruit notes.
- 2022 Vintage: Marked by a dry and warm summer, the 2022 wines exhibit depth, concentration, and a firm tannic structure. Lower rainfall resulted in smaller, intensely flavored berries.
- 2021 Vintage: One of the most structured vintages in recent years, with rich tannins, deep color, and complex aromatics. The cooler nights in late summer contributed to excellent balance and aging potential.
