Villa Charities, the Consulate of Italy in Toronto and the Italian Fallen Workers Memorial Committee join together to commemorate the thousands of Italian Fallen Workers killed on the job in Canada. This will take place on Sunday 28 April 2024 at 3 pm at Villa Charities, in the Memorial Gardens between Villa Columbo and Columbus Centre in Toronto.

April is always an important month for our project, as it is the month that honours the memory of injured and fallen workers worldwide, an initiative begun in Canada. We can be proud of the fact that in1991, eight years after the special “day of remembrance” was launched by the Canadian Labour Congress, Canada’s Parliament was urged to pass the Workers Mourning Day Act making April 28 an official Day of Mourning. Today the Day of Mourning has since spread to more than 100 countries around the world and is recognized as everywhere.
