“Nights of Cabiria”

In the role that won her the Best Actress award at Cannes, Giulietta Masina stars as “Cabiria,” a tough Roman streetwalker who, after a near-drowning by her pimp boyfriend, is swept off her feet by a square, but sympathetic, accountant…until a final disillusionment. Federico Fellini’s showcase for his wife won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film of its year.

Marco Bertozzi teaches cinema at the IUAV University of Venice. He is part, together with Studio Azzurro and others, of the team that designed the Federico Fellini International Museum in Rimini. Besides his many essays on the work of the director, he edited Bibliofellini, the international bibliography in three volumes, published by the Fellini Foundation and the National School of Cinema – Scuola Nazionale di Cinema (2002-2004). With Marsilio he published Storia del documentario italiano(2008), Recycled cinema (2012), Documentario come arte (2018). Filmmaker, his last films Cinema grattacielo (2017) and Mi sono svegliato (2020) – he curated cinematographic art exhibitions, in Italy and abroad, and directed Cortoreale. Gli anni del documentario italiano, a program for Rai Storia on Italian non-fiction.
